Volunteer Outreach

UNITED, OUR ISLAND COMMUNITY WORKED TOGETHER TO HELP THOSE IN NEED IN THE AREAS OF THE COASTAL BEND OF TEXAS, WITH A PASSION TO REACH THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO OBTAIN DISASTER ASSISTANCE.

OUR MEMBERS AND VOLUNTEERS SAW FIRST HAND THE CATASTROPHIC IMPACT OF HURRICANE HARVEY, WITH BOOTS ON THE GROUND. THE DISTRESS CAUSED BY HARVEY TO OUR IMMEDIATE AND SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES DROVE TO SERVE!

WE SERVED WITH OUR HEARTS AND HELPING HANDS! WE ARE #ISLANDSTRONG

I would like to thank everyone who has donated something to the Harvey relief efforts here and the surrounding areas. I would like to share a story of of a couple I met yesterday. As you see in the picture, this Hawaiian veteran and his wife rode out Harvey in their travel trailer by NAS-CC. As Harvey's wind took apart their home piece by piece, they had to seek refuge under a bridge just to survive.
The raw emotion this couple feel every time they tell the story is a testament to the horrific experience they have endured. But endured they have! They came to North Padre Watch, not just for themselves but to get supplies for the many displaced families staying around them. Their selflessness, after all they have been through, had me wiping the "sweat" from my eyes.
I was thankful that my daughter Cayla was there to hear their story and pass it on to her friends.
Remember these people as we try to get back to a normal life. Be like them and continue giving back to our fellow Texans. Thank you

Madison, IL Fire Department

This amazing crew from the Madison Fire Department in IL drove to Texas to help with relief efforts from Harvey.  Not even blown tires on the road could stop this group!  They brought three truck loads full of supplies for the Harvey victims.  They stayed two days, and even with little to no sleep, they went out volunteering in the communities to help with the clean up and labor.  We really got to know these folks, and were sad to see them go.  #UNITEDASONE #ISLANDSTRONG

Selflessness and generosity!!
If y'all are headed down with supplies, and are not sure where to... This is your place!
Thank y'all for your hospitality!

Yard Clean Up

We are still amazed and sharing with everyone our experience post-Harvey.  Your kindness and that of the clean-up crew just blew me away when I arrived home from work that day.Tears of joy flowed as I had not looked forward to the daunting task of cleaning everything myself. I am the primary caregiver and working full time so the debris was not a welcome sight when Harvey finally moved on. The owner is suffering from Parkinson's and the dementia that goes with it. The adjuster came yesterday morning. According to him what I thought of as fairly minor roof damage will actually be a full roof replacement. Once again, a heartfelt THANK YOU and a THANK GOD for such wonderful island neighbors.

Delivery From North Carolina

Paige and Josh Dockens and the NC to Texas-Harvey Relief traveled all the way from Denver North Carolina with the incredible #IOMAX. They unloaded and turned right around to head home. There are no words to express the gratitude for what y'all have done. On behalf of all of the Volunteers of North Padre Watch, words cannot express how what you have done will allow us to continue the outreach and work that is to be done! #ISLANDSTRONG#Northcarolinatotexasharveyrelief
